Understand the basics about the Rhyme app

1.1 Sign up

Go to https://rhyme.com and click the Sign up button. Enter your name, email, and a secure password. Click on "Sign up" button.

1.2 Go to Dashboard

To go to "Dashboard," click on your user profile in top right corner and click "Dashboard."

1.3 Understand the Tabs

Go to "Sessions" tab to see all the live or record sessions you've scheduled. Go to "Recordings" tab to see all the instruction videos you've recorded. Go to "Cloud Desktops" tab to see all the Windows or Linux cloud desktops that you've customized. Go to "Settings" tab to change your photo, credit card, rhyme card, etc.

2. Cloud Desktops

Customize your own cloud desktops by installing your software and configuring your data.

2.1 Choose Windows or Ubuntu

In the "Cloud Desktops" tab, click the "Create New Cloud Desktop" button. Choose the kind of cloud desktop you want -- Windows or Ubuntu.

2.2 Install Software

If needed, enter a credit card or rhyme card and click "Save." You now get a blank Windows or Ubuntu cloud desktop. On this cloud desktop, install any software you want your learners to experience or learn.

2.3 Configure Cloud Desktop

Upload any files to the cloud desktop. Apply any site-wide license to the cloud desktop, if needed. Do any other configurations. E.g., put a shortcut of your software in the Startup Folder so that it automatically starts when the cloud desktop starts.

2.4 Save Cloud Desktop

Take a screenshot of the cloud desktop, give it a name, and click "Save."

3. Recordings

Create your own recordings of video instructions split in chapters.

3.1 Create New Recording

In the "Recordings" tab, click the "Create New Recording" button. Give the recording a name and description and click "Save."

3.2 Choose Cloud Desktop Type

Choose the cloud desktop type: (a) A default Windows or Ubuntu cloud desktop has just default software. (b) A custom Windows or Ubuntu cloud desktop has any custom software you installed (See the Cloud Desktops section).

3.3 For Custom Cloud Desktops:

Choose which custom cloud desktop you want to use.

3.4 Add Chapter

Click "Add Chapter 1." Give the chapter a name and description and click "Record." (For custom cloud desktops) Wait few minutes for the cloud desktop to start up.

3.5 Start Recording

To start recording, click the red record button or press keyboard shortcut "Alt-Shift-R." If your browser asks, allow Rhyme access to your microphone. During recording, Rhyme records your actions in the cloud desktop and the audio from your microphone.

3.6 Pause and Preview

To pause recording, click the "Pause" button or press "Alt-Shift-R." Click "Preview" to watch the recording and verify everything is good.

3.7 Save Recording

Save the recording by pressing "Save." Create more chapters as needed. When finished recording chapters, click "Done."

4. Recorded Sessions

Schedule a session of your recording that learners can attend on their own.

4.1 Create Session

In the "Sessions" tab, click the "Create Session" button. Click the "Start" button under the "Recorded Session" section.

4.2 Choose Recording

Choose the existing recording that you want to use for the session.

4.3 Choose Date / Time

Choose time for the session: (a) Click "Start Now" button if you want to start session now (for recordings that use default cloud desktops). (b) Click the "Start in 15 mins" button if you want to start session in 15 mins from now (for recordings that use custom cloud desktops). (c) Using calendar, click and drag in the date and time-slot when you want to run the session. Verify date and time and click "Save."

4.4 (Optional) Join Session

To join a session, click on the session, and click "Join." You (as host) don't need to be present for the learners to go through the session.

4.5 Monitor Learners

When the session starts, monitor your learners' cloud desktops. To get details or control of a learner's cloud desktop, bring the cursor over their cloud desktop.

4.6 Zoom and Control

Click "Zoom" to see more details of learner's cloud desktop. Click "Control" to take control and troubleshoot. During control, you can also have a video call with them.

4.7 Chat and Settings

Chat with all current learners or with a specific learner in "Chat" tab. In "Settings" tab: (a) Upload a file to all current learners' cloud desktops. (b) Add 15 minutes to when the session ends. (c) End the session.

5. Live Sessions

Schedule a live session that you and learners will attend together.

5.1 Create Session

In the "Sessions" tab, click the "Create Session" button. Click the "Start" button under the "Live Session" section.

5.2 Give Session Details

Give the session a name and description. Choose the number of learners you expect to attend the session and choose their expected location. These expected numbers are just guidelines that help us start correct number of cloud desktops in correct locations. These are not hard-limits.

5.3 Choose Cloud Desktop Type

Choose the cloud desktop type: (a) A default Windows or Ubuntu cloud desktop has just default software. (b) A custom Windows or Ubuntu cloud desktop has any custom software you installed (See the Cloud Desktops section).

5.4 Choose Date / Time

Choose time for the session: (a) Click "Start Now" button if you want to start session now (for sessions that use default cloud desktops). 5.5 Join Session

To join a session, click on the session, and click "Join." Learners are able to join a session only after you (instructor) join it.

5.6 In Session:

In session, your own cloud desktop is on the left and your learners' cloud desktops are on the right. Your actions in your cloud desktop and audio from your microphone gets broadcasted to your learners in real-time.

5.7 Monitor Learners

Monitor your learners' cloud desktops in right panel. To get details or control of a learner's cloud desktop, bring the cursor over their cloud desktop.

5.8 Zoom, Control, and Broadcast

Click "Zoom" to see more details of learner's cloud desktop. Click "Control" to take control and troubleshoot. (c) Click "Broadcast" to broadcast their cloud desktop to other learners. During control, you can also have a video call with them.

5.9 Chat and Settings

Chat with all current learners or with a specific learner in "Chat" tab. In "Settings" tab: (a) Upload a file to all current learners' cloud desktops. (b) Add 15 minutes to when the session ends. (c) Mute all learners. (d) Stop learners from following-along and focus on full-screen of your cloud desktop by clicking the "Expand View" button. (e) End the session.
