1. Agreeing to these terms
When you use Rhyme — by visiting it, creating an account, or accepting an invitation — you’re agreeing to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, that’s fine, but please don’t use Rhyme.
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age in your country, whichever is higher) to use Rhyme. If you’re using Rhyme on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. Your account
Rhyme accounts are personal. You’re responsible for keeping your password safe, for everything that happens under your account, and for the accuracy of the information you give us when you sign up.
You can’t share, sell, or transfer your account. While Rhyme grows by invitation, your invites are a privilege we extend to you to bring in people you’d vouch for. If your invitee acts in a way that breaks these terms, we may take that into account when we look at your own account.
3. The content you post
You own the things you write, photograph, and post on Rhyme. We don’t take ownership of your content.
You do, however, give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (for technical reasons such as resizing or compression), publish, and display your content for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting Rhyme. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account, except for content others have already saved or shared, and except for backup copies we’re required to keep for legal or operational reasons.
You promise that you have the right to post what you post, that it doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights, and that it doesn’t break any law that applies to you.
4. How we expect you to behave
Rhyme is a quiet place. We’re here to talk about the things we love. To keep the rooms worth being in, you agree not to use Rhyme to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or impersonate another person.
- Post content that is hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or gratuitously violent.
- Encourage or facilitate illegal activity.
- Spam, scrape, scam, advertise without authorisation, or use Rhyme for commercial purposes outside of the official invitations system.
- Post copyrighted material you don’t have rights to.
- Probe, scan, or interfere with our infrastructure, or attempt to access accounts or content you’re not authorised to access.
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, generative AI tools) to post content as if it were written by you, or to extract content at scale.
This list isn’t exhaustive. The simple test is: would a thoughtful host welcome this in their living room? If not, please don’t bring it here.
5. How we moderate
We can remove any content, restrict any account, or end any membership at our discretion when we believe these terms or our community guidelines have been broken — or when we judge that a piece of content materially harms the platform or the people on it.
We try to be even-handed and to communicate the reason for any action we take. We use a small group of trusted moderators, automated checks for the most clear-cut violations, and human review for everything else.
If you think we’ve made a mistake, you can appeal by writing to us at the address in section 12.
6. Pricing
During the closed beta, Rhyme is free to use. There are no ads, no sponsored posts, and we don’t sell your data — those commitments hold regardless of how the product is funded later.
We may introduce paid features or a paid tier in the future. If we do, we’ll tell you about the change directly, with reasonable notice, before any charge applies. Nothing in these terms today obliges you to pay us anything.
7. Our intellectual property
The Rhyme name, the “rhyme.” wordmark, the typography, the design system, and the source code of the Rhyme platform are ours. You can’t copy, reproduce, or use them outside of normal use of the service without our written permission.
You can talk about Rhyme, link to it, and write about your experience using it. We’d like that.
8. Suspending or ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. When you do, we delete your profile, your posts, and your comments within 30 days, except for items we’re required to keep for legal or audit reasons. Posts you’ve made that other members have explicitly saved may remain visible to those members in their saved collections.
We can suspend or end your account at any time if we believe you’ve broken these terms, if your continued use puts the service or its members at risk, or if we’re required to by law. We’ll tell you why if we can.
9. Disclaimers and limits
Rhyme is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent allowed by law, we don’t make any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components, and we disclaim all implied warranties.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Rhyme will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $100. We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations. If you live in one of those, the limitations above apply to the maximum extent allowed by your local law.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Delaware, except that you may bring claims in small-claims court if they qualify.
We both agree to try to resolve disputes informally before going to court. If you have a complaint, please write to us first.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for material changes we’ll post a notice in the app or send an email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If you keep using Rhyme after that, you’re agreeing to the new terms.
